FAQs

New to Pilates?

If you are brand new to Pilates, we suggest starting with an Intro Private. In the Intro Private, you will be one-on-one with one of our certified Pilates instructors and you will be able to have all of your questions answered! Be prepared to talk for a few minutes about the benefits of Pilates, how Pilates started and the way to best incorporate Pilates into your life! This is also a great chance to talk through any injuries or issues that you have and are needing modifications for, awareness of, or just anything that might make you a little nervous to start Pilates. You will then do a Pilates workout that will introduce you to just a sampling of what we can do in a class. Afterwards, you will be able to talk to the instructor about the best plan forward for you! You will get instructions on scheduling classes, privates, packages, memberships and all of the details of how Refine Pilates works!

If you are ready to schedule an intro private (we do offer this as a semi private as well – 2 people, so if you have a friend that wants to try too, invite them!) please reach out to us via our contact us buttons on the bottom right part of the screen, or through our email, social media or phone. You can also schedule directly through our website and MINDBODY, by clicking on the BOOK NOW button on the upper right. You would want to select appointments – privates – intro private. As always, call or email with any questions!

New to Refine Pilates?

If you have Pilates experience on a reformer, no major injuries or body issues, then we are fine with you booking into a mixed level or REFINE Signature class!  You can do that through our website, the BOOK NOW button on the upper right corner – or through the MINDBODY app (if you don’t have it, Download it here: AppleAndroid, Search Refine Pilates – St. Michael or Buffalo location) or by reaching out to us through email, phone or social media. You can purchase a package on the app, or when you are in the studio for your first class. We will have a waiver and info form for you to fill out, so please arrive a few minutes early. As always, please reach out to us with any questions – via phone, email or social media.

If you have reformer experience, but would prefer to start with an intro private so you can become familiar with our studio and how it all works before taking a class – that’s great!! We have appointment openings each week and would love to see you in the studio.

How Long are the Classes?

All classes and private sessions are 55 minutes in length. If this is your first time coming to Refine Pilates please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out some paperwork so that your entire session can be utilized fully.

Can I start with classes?

Refine Pilates highly recommends starting your Pilates practice by taking advantage of the Intro Private session for new clients. The benefit of receiving a Private session with an instructor is becoming aware of the basic principles of Pilates and assessing your individual body. Refine Pilates offers multiple Mixed Level Classes upon opening anticipating that many Refine clients will be new to Pilates and we can all learn together! These classes are designed to be appropriate for beginners as well as more advanced students. Over time we will be branching classes into Beginner, Mixed Level, and Intermediate/Advanced classes as clientele progresses. Also watch for new specialized classes to come!

Semi private classes are another great option if you have a friend you would like to share the cost of a Private session and workout together! Since there are limited reformers all clients can expect very individualized session for all classes. Private sessions are a wonderful opportunity to work on special issues within your own body making you feel great for years to come.
